Tool overview

Our free IP Tracker tool instantly fetches your current public IP address and its associated geographic metadata. You can also manually lookup any IPv4 or IPv6 address to determine its origin.

What the tool does

  • Auto-Detection: Shows your public IP the moment you load the page.
  • Geographic Data: Displays the estimated Country, Region, and City.
  • Network Info: Reveals the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Autonomous System Number (ASN).
  • Custom Lookup: Allows you to trace the details of any valid IP address you type into the search bar.

What problems it solves

People often need to know their public IP to whitelist it in a server firewall, debug network routing issues, or test how a website interacts with a specific geographic location. This tool provides all that data without intrusive ads or tracking scripts.

Who should use it

  • Web Developers and Sysadmins
  • Network Engineers
  • Cybersecurity Enthusiasts
  • Everyday users checking if their VPN is working properly.

Why it matters

Knowing your public IP footprint helps you stay secure and verify how much data your internet connection is broadcasting to the websites you visit.

How It Works

Input

By default, the tool automatically detects your connection upon arriving. Alternatively, you can input any standard IPv4 (e.g., 8.8.8.8) or IPv6 address into the search input.

Processing

The app makes a client-side API request directly from your browser to a free geolocation database (like ipapi). The lookup resolves the logical numerical address into real-world geographic context and provider metadata.

Limitations

  • The geographic mapping is done using registry databases, so it shows the approximate location of the ISP's data center or network node, not a precise home address.
  • Using a VPN or proxy will mask your true IP, so the tool will display the VPN server's details instead.

Output

The results include the IP format version (v4 or v6), city-level location data, specific ISP or organization Name, ASN identifier, local timezone, and approximate latitude/longitude matching the ZIP code of the data center.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my location look slightly wrong?

IP geolocation is not exact. It relies on databases maintained by internet registries. Usually, the city or region corresponds to where your ISP routes its regional traffic, which can sometimes be several towns away from your physical house.

Is it safe to share my IP?

In most cases, yes. The worst a normal person can do with your IP is look up the city you are in. However, to prevent targeted DDoS attacks or specialized probing, you shouldn't publish it publicly (like on a forum).

How can I hide my IP?

To browse anonymously, use a reputable VPN service or the Tor browser. This routes your traffic through an intermediary server, shielding your true IP from websites.
